PebbleGo Vote Polls Open for K-5 Students
Kids Can Vote for Next U.S. President in Mock Election
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – October 8, 2020 – Capstone, innovative publisher of children’s educational content for schools and home, has launched PebbleGo™ Vote, a free election-season resource through its award-winning PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next curriculum databases. Running through November 3, the mock election invites students in grades K-5 to vote for their favorite candidate for President of the United States at https://pebblego.com/vote.
Every vote will count towards the national PebbleGo Vote tally. Educators can choose to use a unique, school-specific link to share with students to cast their vote and track their individual school results. The nationwide mock election results will be revealed on Nov. 4.
Designed to integrate into the curriculum for in-person or distance learning lessons, PebbleGo Vote helps teach students about key civic concepts such as democracy and the election process, elected offices, and past presidents. PebbleGo Vote features free lessons and fun downloadables, such as coloring sheets and “I Voted” stickers, as well as free access to election and civics-related articles on PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next, including biographies of candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“Educators rely on our PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next databases to teach students about credible sources and factual information, and to build their digital literacy and information literacy skills. It’s exciting to provide a platform specifically for students to learn about the election process, the candidates, civic responsibility, and that they are never too young to voice their opinions,” said Amy Cox, Capstone Associate VP of Marketing.
In the 2016 PebbleGo Vote mock election, nearly 100,000 elementary students in 45 states cast their virtual vote. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton was declard the winner with 64% of the total vote.
PebbleGo, the go-to resource for K-3 research, and PebbleGo Next, the research solution for grades 3-5, help educators extend student learning by encouraging critical thinking and research skills, reinforcing curriculum, supporting personalized learning, and inspiring children’s diverse interests through independent reading and exploration. PebbleGo uses a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos, and encompassing activities which teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. PebbleGo has over 1.7 billion page views which equates to every K-3 student in the United States reading 7 articles. More than 4 million students use PebbleGo each year.
