Engage Literacy Recurring Characters

Engage Literacy's recurring character's give readers a familiar experience with their favorite character as they go from level to level, grade to grade, and classroom to classroom.

Each time the character is reintroduced, readers:
• Identify or recognize the character or details from the story which leads to a deeper understanding and comprehension; each time the story is read, new information can be gleaned from the picture and/or the words; guided questioning can encourage analysis
• Build confidence by knowing the character; readers gain in self-confidence through the ability to predict, explain or tell a story, that they know what happens next; they also learn positive social skills through interacting with other students in relating the character's experience
